tip of the month - march
Slow down! We seemingly race through life but at the end of the day, do we even want to get to the finish line? Take the time to enjoy what is going on at this stage of your life instead of only thinking about what might be coming up in the future. Not too long ago we had a professional development day regarding this exact subject and the speaker had some interesting things to say. Take a few minutes to watch his presentation here.
Tip of the Month - january
With exams fast approaching it is important to remember a few key things:
1. Get a good nights sleep. Studies show that if you sleep for 8 hours the night before an exam you are three times more likely to solve a problem then if you had been awake all night studying!
2. Think realistically. Some times we get caught up in the outcome of a test and how it will affect our lives. Step back and think about that question realistically...what is the worst thing that will happen? Chances are it is not that bad.
3. Be active. Physical activity before a test helps get your blood flowing and prepare you body both mentally and physically to be successful on your test!
Link to "Test Anxiety" Booklet from Anxiety BC. This is a great resource for ways to identify and combat test anxiety. Gives a very in depth look at how to help combat it as well as test taking strategies that you may find useful!

TIP OF THE MONTH - DECEMBER
Are you living in the present?
Many of us spend the majority of our time living in either the future or the past and sometimes forget to "Live in the now!" Watch this next short video and remember that sometimes our mind does start to race and what started as a small problem suddenly started rolling down the mountain and ended up as a boulder sized issue that crushes everything in its path. This can be our thoughts if we let them race into the unknown and create scenarios that often aren't a reality and even more often cannot be controlled. Hopefully this video will be helpful! Enjoy.
